Mazabuka Municipal Council Training

Proper planning is one of the most important things to ensure that the right decisions are made in Zambia. With this realization some staff from Mazabuka Municipal Council were at PCGIS where they received training in GIS from the 27th to the 28th of July, 2009 to enable them to analyze spatial data and adequately plan for the town of Mazabuka which is growing hastily.

The training was successfully conducted. The Mazabuka staff had extra-ordinary enthusiasm to learn GIS. The team was thrilled to digitize the CBD, roads and some residential areas from the satellite image for Mazabuka. Furthermore the team received training on how to operate a GPS (picking of points and downloading).

The planning team received basic training in GIS which would however enable them to execute the spatial framework stage of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and other future projects.
